Freshman center Pawel Buczak is in the game

  • This is the third or fourth straight game in which Buczak has seen action. The freshman epitomizes "lanky," making Kyle Koncz look like an obese gentleman.
  • Buczak's wingspan has got to be over seven feet. He stands six feet, nine inches.
  • In his first appearance of the season (garbage time in a blowout win over Rice) Buczak attempted a three-pointer. He missed it, but the prospect of having a center who is willing to shoot from the outside is an encouraging one. It looked for a while like sophomore forward Mike Strittmatter could fill that role, but he really plays nothing like a center. Still, he could really be a valuable wing player if he picks up his inside scoring a bit.
  • In my face, Strittmatter drives in for a pretty baseline floater, pulling Princeton to within two. The shot came right after Buczak absolutely stuffed Penn's 6-7 Tommy McMahon on the other end of the floor. McMahon thought he was wide open for a layup after cutting to the paint, but when he turned around, Buczak was there to launch the ball right back into his face.
